The ‘Social Policy and Social Interventions’ Master's programme focuses on changes in the nature and organisation of welfare states in relation to socio-cultural changes, and on the study of various social issues, management processes and communication in organisations, and strategies that can be used to research policy and intervention.
Social issues are studied from an interdisciplinary perspective and graduates of this programme will be able to carry out and evaluate practical and policy-focused research on social policy and social interventions. They will have the academic and professional skills to research, implement, manage and evaluate policy and intervention processes.
In the study of social issues, the focus is on practical and policy-focused research in the fields of employment, social security, welfare, and social services. The programme combines coursework with a research project. The programme comprises four courses, plus another six months for the thesis. Each course comprises seminars of up to 25 students, supervised by a lecturer who is responsible for the supervision and assessment of the assignments as well as preparing students for examinations. Each course requires twenty hours of study per week. The research project relates to policy development and intervention practices, and students participate in a small, supervised project group.
At the end of the programme, you will have a good overview of the various fields and you will be able to collect and interpret information as well as judge and apply new insights. You will also have the academic and professional skills to research, implement, manage and evaluate policy and intervention processes.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
