This programme combines the complementary research and teaching expertise of Manchester, Keele and Salford universities to give a sound insight into the immunology and molecular biology of parasitic diseases and their transmission by vectors. Students are trained in the modern experimental research techniques used in parasite-vector relationship study.
This programme is ideal for students wishing to gain additional training prior to embarking on a research career in parasitology, entomology, immunology or molecular biology. Overseas students can obtain specialist training prior to undertaking or managing parasitological or vector related research and control appropriate to their own country.
Typical compulsory course-units include: Core Parasitology and Vector Biology; Immunology of Parasitic Infections; Molecular Biology of Parasites; Vector Biology and Control; Analytical Parasitology and a Research Skills module.
