International Relations (IR) is one of the fastest growing sections of our Graduate Programme and an area in which we are investing significantly. The MA course units on offer cover most of the field with a significant emphasis on the critical and normative dimensions of contemporary IR scholarship. As well as research training, the IR pathway provides students with a critical grounding in the theory and practice of international politics in an era of globalisation.
The compulsory course units are complemented by core course units in global ethical and normative issues, security studies, foreign policy and international political economy. You take 5 compulsory research training modules and 2 compulsory core modules:

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

* 2:1 or overseas equivalent in a Social Science subject for direct MA entry.
* 2:2 or overseas equivalent for Postgraduate Diploma route entry
English language requirements:
Applicants whose first language is not English must attain one of the following:
* IELTS - Overall 7, writing score 7
* TOEFL - Overall 623, TWE 5 (PBT)
* TOEFL - Overall 263, TWE 5 (CBT). This test is no longer available but results less than 2 years old can be submitted.
* TOEFL - Overall 100, with 25 in each of the 4 sections (IBT)
