All students take a core module, Theoretical Approaches to Political Economy , which provides a thorough grounding in both classical and contemporary theories of political economy and introduces the basic concepts of the discipline. Each student will pursue their particular interest in political economy through one of four pathways:
* Theoretical Political Economy
* Political Economy of Society, Space and Environment
* Political Economy of Finance, Business and Work
* Political Economy of Development
The course offers training in both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Taught units comprise two thirds of the programme. For Masters students, the remainder of the programme consists of a 15000 word dissertation on a substantial issue in political economy.

Applicants are expected to have a first or upper second class degree or its international equivalent. We welcome applicants from a range of degree backgrounds, including Economics, Politics, Philosophy, Anthropology, Sociology, and Geography.
English language requirements:
Applicants whose first language is not English must attain one of the following:
* IELTS - Overall 7, writing score 7
* TOEFL - Overall 623, TWE 5 (PBT)
* TOEFL - Overall 263, TWE 5 (CBT). This test is no longer available but results less than 2 years old can be submitted.
* TOEFL - Overall 100, with 25 in each of the 4 sections (IBT)
