The MSc Multidisciplinary Economics puts you at the forefront of the latest economic theory as you refine your expert research skills.

Today economics is a complex discipline that touches upon many other fields of study. And the MSc in Multidisciplinary Economics gives you valuable Economics expertise at the same time you gain interdisciplinary research skills that enable you to solve wide-ranging economic issues. This two-year Research Master's offers the latest methods and models of economics, taught by acclaimed researchers from USE. Compulsory first-year courses are devoted to topics like econometrics and multidisciplinary micro- and macro-economics. In the 2nd year your electives, Multidisciplinary Research Project and thesis enable you to consolidate your research skills with insights from your secondary discipline (law, history, geography or social sciences). You also have an opportunity to take on an internship at a research institute or company, or if you prefer, to engage in courses offered by the Netherlands Network for Economics, NAKE ( 'The multidisciplinary nature and structure of this MSc means you have freedom to follow your own interests; an excellent way to become a well-prepared researcher with a broad view of economics.'

Requirements

Personal motivation: A Bachelor´s Degree cum laude (or comparable) in a relevant field with an average grade of at least 3.4 (or the Dutch equivalent 7.75 on a ten point scale). A minimum score of 80% in the quantitative part of the GRE General test (Princeton Graduate Record Exam). A score of at least 600 on the paper-based, 250 on the computer test or 100 on the internet based TOEFL test (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or a minimum score of 7 on the IELTS (International English Language Testing System). Students with a GPA (Grade Point Average) between 3.0 and 3.4 (Dutch equivalent: 7 or better) can be selected and will have a good chance of being selected if their previous studies fit in well with the programme. In addition to these entry requirements, we also require that students hand in a letter of motivation. In this letter you have to explain why you are interested in doing multidisciplinary research.
