The Integrated Environmental Management programme at the University of Bath is for those wishing to develop an in-depth understanding of environmental management and its application.
It is specifically designed for part-time study without the need to take a career break and offers maximum flexibility to allow study to be integrated with work and other responsibilities. By combining study and work it helps both individuals and their organisations to make the most of the opportunities presented by considering environmental and sustainability issues in their organisation.
We welcome students from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds. Our student and graduate population (now totalling over a thousand) is diverse, with an age range of 21 to 67 years, learning at a distance from over 40 countries.

Continuing professional development short courses
We offer a range of short courses in environmental management suitable for all environmental management professionals. Our Associate Membership courses are accredited by the Institue of Environmental Management and Assessment and successful completion leads automatically to professional 'AIEMA' status.

Students studying for the MSc take eight modules and attend five compulsory residential school sessions before moving on to their dissertation research project. The total time to complete the course is approximately 1500 hours of study and most students spread this over three years although faster and slower study plans are available.

Applicants will usually have a first degree from a recognised university and both science and arts-based degrees are accepted.
For non-graduate applicants with appropriate practical experience, an access route is available. The access route comprises the first two modules of the full MSc/PG Dip programme. Entrants achieving the required standard in these two modules and who wish to continue with their studies, will be allowed to register as candidates for the Postgraduate Diploma or MSc degree. Direct registration onto the Postgraduate Diploma or MSc for candidates without a first degree is possible for applicants who can demonstrate that they have substantial relevant work experience
English Language Requirement
The language of study for the course is English. The University's minimum requirement for non-native English speakers is 6.5 in the IELTS test (Academic English) or 580 in the TOEFL test. Applicants who do not hold one of these qualifications, but who have undertaken significant work experience or study, where English was the main language of communication, may be accepted upon submission of suitable evidence.

Where applicants can demonstrate evidence of prior learning achievement which is relevant in terms of this programme, credit may be awarded in part fulfilment of the programme’s credit requirement. Credit will be granted for whole modules only up to a maximum of 50% of the taught programme.
