This programme provides students with a broad and in depth understanding of the new international security environment of the post-Cold War era.
A set of compulsory and semi-compulsory courses in each semester will form the core of the programme and will cover international security theories and concepts, regional approaches to international security, international terrorism, arms dynamics and arms control, and European security issues from a variety of angles. In addition, students will be able to choose from a number of courses that this new programme will share with the other MA programmes in the department.
The programme consists of two semesters of taught courses and a dissertation module during which students write a 15,000 word dissertation on a topic of their choice and under the supervision of an experienced member of staff. Taught units that are offered in the programme reflect the expertise of the Department’s research active staff.
