This course will equip you with the practical skills and knowledge needed to make an immediate and effective contribution in a supply chain and logistics-related role. You will gain a sound understanding of global business from a strategic and operational perspective, coupled with a sound conceptual framework for applying IT within the discipline.
What will you study?
The programme is designed to provide you with an integrated, interdisciplinary knowledge of supply chain management and IT, thereby increasing your skill set and enhancing your future career prospects. The course builds on theory and the practical application of key business functions in a supply chain management context.
You will have the opportunity to apply your studies and demonstrate your practical expertise. Through your dissertation you can research a technology-related supply chain management issue of particular personal interest or relevance to your career aspirations.

Core modules
* E-Commerce Operations
This module looks at the opportunities and challenges that face managers and organisers who are developing e-commerce initiatives. It provides:
* a strategic and theoretical framework to help you understand the process of change and competition in e-commerce operations; and
* and understanding of the operational issues which need to be addressed.
Areas of study include the e-commerce environment, trends and developments in e-commerce initiatives, marketing, supply chain management, and strategy and planning.
* Digital Document Management
New internet standards require increasingly sophisticated knowledge of document management. This module develops a detailed knowledge of the technology and issues to enable you to plan, design and predict new applications. It aims to provide you with:
* an understanding of the role of structured mark-up languages in the production and exchange of documents and data on the world wide web;
* an ability to model document structures using XML;
* an understanding of the role of style sheet technologies in decoupling document content and structure from its presentation; and
* an overview of current applications in a business context.
* Business Internet Systems
This module aims to provide a theoretical understanding, as well as practical competence, in the techniques of structured systems analysis and design in new and emerging fields of business internet systems.
Methodologies covered will range from SSADM to Rapid Application Development and Prototyping. You will study software development strategies, specification and design, programming tools and techniques, query languages, systems development management, as well as security and fraud.
* Project Management
* Operations Management
This module evaluates key operational processes in both the service and manufacturing sectors. You will:
* propose and substantiate operational improvements within a given context;
* explain influences on the achievement of best practice; and
* assess the role that operations activity plays within the broader organisational landscape.
* Logistics
This module covers:
* the concepts, principles, and techniques associated with logistics management (from both an operation management and a marketing perspective);
* how to apply theoretical knowledge to practice; and
* strategic thinking.
* Outsourcing Fundamentals
This module introduces key issues relating to and influencing outsourcing decisions, and develops your ability to manage outsourcing projects. It includes:
* examining the strategic and operational implications of outsourcing;
* assessing vendor procedures and management; and
* studying the associated legal aspects.
* Research Methods and Dissertation
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

* some experience in business IT or computer use.
