The MSc Healthcare Management course is delivered by a team internationally recognised for their expertise in health policy, leadership, workforce, the professions and change, governance, regulation, working across organisational boundaries and policy and course evaluation. You study within the Health Policy and Management Group, a team with more than 50 years' expertise in postgraduate teaching, research and consultancy in UK, European and international health systems.
As well as exemplary teaching on contemporary health policy, management and leadership in healthcare organisations, you also benefit from a unique personal and professional development plan through action learning, psychometric testing and personal tuition.
You have the opportunity to specialise according to your interests or career goals, and also undertake a dissertation. This can be based on research, policy analysis or a practical project. All parts of the course are supported by excellent library resources, which include on-line teaching and learning resources for each course unit.
Module details The course consists of both compulsory and optional taught units. Compulsory course units include: Personal and Organisational Development; Contemporary Issues in Health policy; Management and Governance in Healthcare Organisations; and Research Methods. Optional course units typically include: International Healthcare Systems: Themes and Challenges; The Wider Context of Healthcare Management; Leadership and Service Improvement; and Organisational Behaviour.
In addition to the course units, students are offered a range of opportunities to support their personal and organisational development, including a personal tutor system and study skills workshops introducing Kolb's learning cycle and learning styles. In addition, the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI) and other psychometric tests are offered.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

We normally look for a UK bachelors degree with upper second class honours, relevant professional qualification or overseas equivalent, plus typically skills equivalent to those gained in two years of healthcare management work.
When assessing your academic record we take into account your grade average , position in class, references and the standing of the institution where you studied your qualification. We particularly welcome applicants from institutions of high ranking and repute.
