The interpretation, conservation and management of historic landscapes is one of the most exciting and fascinating areas of contemporary archaeological endeavour. To achieve a truly integrated understanding of these complex landscapes requires a variety of skills drawn from across a range of disciplines. This innovative course brings together experts in field archaeology, environmental archaeology, agrarian landscapes and parks and gardens to provide a comprehensive course that addresses the themes and issues encountered by academics, conservationists and professional archaeologists attempting to undertake the recording, interpretation and conservation of these landscapes.
Purpose

* A critical review of interpretative and theoretical approaches to historic landscapes from a regional to a world-wide perspective.
* An introduction to the evaluation and the conservation of designed and vernacular landscapes.
