Location of University of York

The programme is designed to provide specialist tuition in human resource management subjects and tuition in management more generally. Students therefore learn about the context of human resource management as well as HRM itself. Students should ideally have studied a social sciences or management degree but prior knowledge of HRM is not required.

* Human Resources, Performance and Measurement

Term 3 Modules

Dissertation (12,000 words) (60 credits)

(Preceded by a 1500-word dissertation proposal)


You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have a good first degree (2:1 or equivalent) in a social science subject. Previous tuition in management subjects is desirable but it is not essential to have studied for an undergraduate degree in management, business or HRM.

English Language RequirementsApplicants for whom English is not their first language should provide evidence of English language competence. Acceptable qualifications are:

IELTS with overall score of 6.5 with not less than 6 in any component

TOEFL: 587 in the paper-based test, 237 in the computer-based test, and 92 in the Internet-based test

Cambridge Proficiency at Grade C or above

Language Proficiency

Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): Grade A (Score: 80)
