Location of University of Chester

The Chester full-time MBA is designed to provide aspiring managers, and those wishing to accelerate their management careers, with deeper understanding and up-to-date knowledge of manager development, management of people and finance, customer relationship management, management of change and leadership and corporate strategy.

The MBA is a 3 stage programme of management learning. The programme comprises taught modules at Stages 1 and 2, while Stage 3 comprises research methods tuition and a dissertation/research project.

There is a possibility of an internship programme working with a British or multinational organisation.

A range of optional modules are on offer and will run subject to student demand. An internship may be available.

Stage 3

In addition to the formal taught sessions, significant learning will take place through independent guided study and will involve applying theoretical knowledge to practical workplace situations. The internship programme provides an outstanding opportunity to potentially work on a real and challenging organisational issue in a world class public or private sector organisation.

Assessment

Assessment for each taught module is normally by submission of up to two pieces of work.

The Research Methods module has a more extensive assessment and will involve the submission of written elements and a presentation of a research proposal.

The Research Project, or “dissertation” of c. 12,000 words, enables students to tailor the MBA to their personal leadership development needs or the specific challenges facing their organisation. Students will be fully supported and guided during this research project by an experienced management researcher who will act as their personal research supervisor.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Requirements

* Minimum of lower second class honours degree, or equivalent
* Minimum of two years work experience in a business related position, normally at supervisory level
* For those with limited work experience it is possible to enter the programme after completing an intensive Bridging programme. Please note there will be an additional cost for this.
