Location of University of Chester

This programme provides professional training for experienced and qualified counsellors who wish to extend their role and supervise other counsellors.

On completion of the programme, students will be well prepared to apply for accreditation as a supervisor by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Programme Structure





The programme is modular in structure, consisting of 3 taught modules.

Module 1: Counselling Supervision Theory

Module 2: Counselling Supervision: Practice

Module 3: Professional and Ethical Issues in Counselling Supervision

Assessment





Self, peer and tutor assessment are utilised.

IELTS

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Requirements

Entry to the programme will be based on evidence of:

* A Diploma in Counselling or equivalent qualification
* Completion of a minimum of 400 hours of supervised counselling practice since qualifying as a counsellor, over a period of at least three years
* Practice as a counsellor currently receiving supervision
* A reference fromapplicants' counselling supervisor supporting candidates statement of counselling hours practised and readiness to undertake the course
* Willingness to work within the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice
* Possession of a professional liability insurance policy which will cover students for the duration of the course
* Having a supervisee, or will have a supervisee, by the start of the course
* Being a reflective practitioner with the ability to offer a balance between support and challenge and have the potential to offer a safe supervisory relationship
* Applicants will be subject to Occupational Health Check and CRB checks.

Accreditation

On completion of the programme, students will be well prepared to apply for accreditation as a supervisor by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
