Programme Description

The M.A. study qualifies students for a variety of scientifically oriented professional fields in the areas of sport, sport education and sport sciences. The M.A. study is grounded particularly in the scientific methods and themes of the subject area, in addition to didactical/methodological as well as practical knowledge and experiences. The study is geared towards discussing the innovations made in sport sciences in regard to current needs and to the transfer of the scientific results to practice.
The M.A. study has been designed to enable graduates of the course to mainly work in sport sciences institutions and research units or to decide to go on to a further scientific qualification (Ph.D.). This in turn will allow them to work in scientifically oriented professions.

The duration of the M.A. study is set to four semesters. During this time the courses have to be attended and the written and oral examination as well as the preparation of the Master Thesis have to be completed. The study begins in the German summer semester (April-July).

The IS3 at the University of Konstanz takes place in an attractive environment with versatile possibilities for recreation. While aquatic sports are particularly attractive in the summer months, the winter months offer the chance to explore the neighboring Swiss and Austrian Alps for alpine sports activities.
The University of Konstanz itself has been recognized as an Elite University in the Federal Initiative for Excellence to Promote Institutions of Higher Education.
