This MBA course (Master of Business Administration) run by Southampton Business School is designed to provide contemporary and critical management skills for aspiring managers and business leaders. You will be exposed to a world of management theory and encouraged to develop your personal and professional skills by applying them to key business scenarios.
This University recognises that practicing management in a global market is demanding in terms of the capabilities and variety of skills required. Building upon the four pillars of management – marketing, operations, human resource management, and finance – extensive preparation has gone into ensuring that the taught element of this degree will cover the range of skills required to operate in a global business environment.
In keeping with the aim of ensuring graduates have a broad range of management skills, the dissertation is an option on the MBA. If you want to specialise in one area of business or develop a project, the dissertation will allow you to do this.
Alternatively, if your main purpose for studying the MBA is to gain the broadest range of management skills possible, you can substitute the dissertation with electives in innovation and e-business.

EU student funding EU student loan
If you have difficulties paying for your fees, you can apply for a loan which is repayable when you have finished your studies and have a job paying more than approximately £15,000 per year.* The Government pays the University on your behalf, in the form of a fees loan, and you pay back later through the tax system.
* This is the repayment threshold in the UK. Differences in living costs will be taken into account and therefore the repayment threshold may vary in different countries.
EU bursary
Southampton Solent University offers a bursary to full-time undergraduate EU students, as follows:
Up to £750 bursary for each year of study, for students from lower income families.
Bursaries of up to £750 will be given to students whose household income is below £25,000, on courses with fees of £3,375.
EU students on courses with fees below £3,375 will be eligible for a bursary of £375.
How to apply and further information
If applying for the loan and/or bursary, you will be required to complete the EU11N form . Once completed and submitted and if applying for the EU bursary, you will automically be sent out the EU11B form.
If you are from an EU country you may want to contact the Student Finance European Team|, for further information on EU funding and fee loans. Further information can also be found on the following website: www.direct.gov.uk|
Equivalent or Lower Qualifications (ELQ)
In 2008, the Government decided to no longer provide Higher Education institutions with funding to teach EU students who wish to study a qualification which is equivalent to, or lower to their existing qualifications.
In response to this decision, some universities will be charging a higher tuition fee to ELQ students to compensate for the shortfall in funding. However, Southampton Solent University has decided to keep the fee in line with the current EU fees but it is important to keep in mind that ELQ students will not be able to claim for the tuition fee loan and the EU bursary.
If you believe you may fall in the category of the ELQ students and would like to find out more about your eligibility, please contact the Student Finance Service on + 44 (0) 141 243 3570 or email EU_Team@slc.co.uk
