Journalism is undergoing a period of change unparalleled since the advent of broadcasting in the 1920s. Citizen journalism, blogging and the internet have huge implications and the demand for theoretical analysis is rising. This programme addresses those skills, and knowledge needs, while it also provides students with practical experience of multimedia content creation.

It addresses issues surrounding the political influence of print journalism in Britain, and places a strong emphasis on the exploration of comparative geographical and historical perspectives. Journalism's evolution in emerging economies is also a central part of the course.

International perspectives inform the programme throughout, and students will have the opportunity to reflect on global journalistic issues such as the portrayal of environmental change and sustainability, conflict and post-conflict journalism, and social media and its implications.

This programme is based at the Warrington campus.
