Course Structure
This course can be taken over 1 year, full-time or 2 years, part-time.
The full-time course is taught from the end of September to the following June. You will then spend another three months preparing your dissertation or a targeted translation project with commentary for submission by the end of September. If the appropriate arrangements can be made, your project may be a practical exercise undertaken during a placement with a local public body or charity.
While you will receive generic training in the theory and practice of translating and interpreting, this course is dedicated to translation and interpreting between the specific languages and cultures of English and Chinese. You will therefore be able to target specific theoretical, technical and practical issues relating to this particular culture interface.
You also have the option to complete a Postgraduate Diploma over nine months, full-time (semesters one and two) or a Postgraduate Certificate over 18 weeks, full-time (semester one).
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
