The programme is an ideal choice for people who like to solve complicated puzzles, and are interested in applying those skills in a social context.

Students can choose from three specializations:

* Operations Research
* Econometrics
* Actuarial Studies.

Econometrics

Econometrics is the science of applying of mathematical and statistical models to analyze economic problems. Researching these problems requires a logical and analytical approach. Obviously, students need to have an interest in solving complex problems and puzzles.

Operations Research

Operations Research is the discipline whereby solutions are found for a wide range of logistic and financial decisionmaking problems, such as freight routes, railway timetables, stock control, production planning, service and school timetables, location systems, queue management, financial investments and portfolio composition.

Actuarial Studies

Actuarial Studies focuses on subjects related to insurance, but the theories can also be applied in other areas. The main characteristic of insurance is that it transfers the risk of certain events from the policyholder to the insurance company for a certain price.

Many EORAS graduates find work in finance, insurance, marketing or market research, where they are involved in market development, fund management, risk analysis, or assessing the impact of advertising. The jobs offered to EORAS graduates by non-profit organizations will involve the same type of work as those offered by commercial organizations. Both types of organizations employ financial experts and market researchers. Graduates also find employment with employer organizations, trade unions, consumer organizations and consultancy firms.
