This course is aimed at those who work, or seek to work, in developing economies, or who wish to develop their careers within the support organisations for the developing world. The course reflects the main functional areas of international development and management, blending the theoretical and practical elements to give you key knowledge and skills in both development studies and management. You will need to complete a project or dissertation which will give you an opportunity to undertake a serious piece of research. You may also become a member of the Development Studies Association (DSA).

You should normally hold a first degree in a cognate discipline from a recognised institution (minimum 2.2 or international equivalent) or a good more general degree (minimum 2.1 or international equivalent).
Exceptionally, non-graduates with significant relevant work experience can also be considered. In addition, it is essential that you speak, write and comprehend English fluently. Entrants for whom English is not their mother tongue or who have not recently studied or worked in an English environment, are normally required to have passed IELTS (or any other recognised English language test of the same standard) with a minimum score of 6.5.
