The Master´s degree programme in International Economics and Business (IE&B) is a high-quality programme that prepares students for an international career in the private or public sectors. Students study a wide range of interesting topics at an advanced level, ranging from international trade and investment to the consequences of globalization for strategic decision-making in multinational enterprises, and the socio-economic and institutional differences between countries.
The combination of topics in the field of international business and international economics, as well as the attention paid to the links between both fields, makes this programme unique.
The Faculty of Economics and Business and BI Norwegian School of Management, Oslo, Norway, have established a 2-year Double Degree Master in the International Economics and Business, with as specialisation `Strategy´.
Students are trained to become extremely versatile economists with a strong international profile. The MSc opens a wide range of doors into the labour market. Here are a number of examples of jobs that graduates not only can do, but are actually doing: International market analyst; International money expert, International trade expert, and International acquisition manager.
The programme is divided into two semesters.
The first deals with the subjects Advanced International Economics:
* Multinational Enterprises and Trade,
* Advanced IE&B: Comparative Institutional Approaches and Advanced
* International Business: Management Challenges of Globalization.
What are the consequences of increasing international competition and globalization for the position of companies and working conditions in a country? What are the possibilities for companies to enter into international strategic alliances with other companies? How does this affect the co-operation between governments in the field of trade politics, the protection of property rights and the resolution of international monetary and financial problems? In the second semester you conduct independent research for your Master´s thesis. You choose your own subject in consultation with your supervisor. You also attend a workshop on research methods to help you with this project.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
