By the end of your studies, students are equipped for a number of professions, including;

* exhibiting practitioners
* design makers
* curatorial practice
* arts consultancy
* education

Contents

This MA is part of a continuum of related MA courses. While you will develop your discipline skills and knowledge, some of the modules involve staff and students from other genres within the visual arts. This dialogue will help you gain an understanding of a broad range of practice and extend the parameters of your making.

There are excellent facilities in Ceramics, Metal & Jewellery and Textiles, including;

* raku
* gas and electric kilns
* a foundry
* well equipped metalwork facilities
* a laser cutter
* digital textile printer
* textile and traditional print facilities
* computer suites
* rapid prototyping
* sonic welding

The course is committed to the integration of theory and practise in order that you understand and can articulate the theoretical and artistic context of your work. You will be taught through seminars, demonstrations, group and individual tutorials. As well as the resident team, there are visiting lecturers who add to the breadth of experience. This year so far these have included Michael Brennand-Wood, Rajesh Gogna and Carol McNicoll.

Coventry is an hour from London, close to Birmingham and other regional centres. There are frequent study trips to these places. Coventry itself is a city that is developing culturally, and during the course there will be opportunities to engage with the larger arts world. Students are expected to use these links and develop those of their own.

Above all, this course is for you to develop your individuality as a practitioner.

The course is normally completed in 12 months of full-time study or 24 months part-time. Part-time mode commits one day per week to University based study and is particularly suited to working practitioners and professionals who wish to extend their skills and experience.
