What does it actually mean to say we live in a global or globalised media and communication environment? What kind of technological, social and cultural changes are implied, produced or hidden by this phrase?
This Global Media and Communications MA degree allows you to develop the necessary theoretical frameworks and conceptual tools to analyse and to critically evaluate the implications of these developments.
* The course is taught by a team of enthusiastic specialists in the field of global media and communications
* Staff will provide an introduction to current theoretical perspectives and debates in a friendly and stimulating setting.
* You will be encouraged to make practical, critical and creative use of digital media (e.g. blogging, video, imaging etc.) as part of your assignments.
Your future This MA will be attractive to those seeking or enhancing careers in the transnational media and communications industries, NGOs, campaign and advocacy groups, or education, as well as those having ambitions for further intellectual enquiry, research and an academic career within this field.
The course explores through current research and scholarship, the globalisation of the communication and media industries, media ownership and concentration, international agencies, the new communication order, and ethical/rights issues in global media.
