The most recent of our transport-related MSc programmes, the MSc in Transport and Business Management has now been operating for 3 years and has gained in popularity each year. The programme recognises that some of those looking for a postgraduate degree in transport will have aspirations to become managers in the transport field, either in the public or the private sector, and will need both an understanding of transport issues and an exposure to the concerns of modern management. To achieve this, students take modules from amongst those offered by the School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences and also select from modules offered by the Newcastle Business School.
Aims
This programme aims to produce postgraduates who have a coherent understanding of Transport and Business Management and are able to apply it, in practice to the planning, management and operation of transport systems Graduates of the course will have an awareness of their responsibilities to society and should be able to pursue a successful career in transportation in either the private or public sector. The course also provides an opportunity for good honours graduates in associated disciplines to gain advanced skills in this important area.
For the MSc, 10 taught modules (100 credits) are chosen comprising seven transport modules from the School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences and three management-related modules from the Business School.
