If taken full time, your first nine months are devoted to taught modules (120 credits) which examine three main threads.
In the programming thread, you learn the Java programming language.
The computer architecture thread covers the basic structure of a digital computer and computer networks.
The software engineering thread considers the problems of the design specification and implementation of large computing systems produced by many designers and programmers.
Practical classes are a key component of this part of the programme. There is also a substantial amount of group project work, giving you practical experience of software engineering and professional issues.
The final three months are devoted to an individual project, culminating in a dissertation describing the work completed (60 credits).
Compulsory modules:
CSC8001 Programming and Data Structures
CSC8002 Advanced Programming
CSC8004 Networks and Web Technologies
CSC8005 Software Engineering with Group Project
CSC8008 Information Systems
