You take four compulsory modules (60 credits), optional modules (30 credits), extended coursework (30 credits) and an individual project with dissertation (60 credits).
Compulsory modules cover: advanced control systems; distributed control systems; industrial automation, robotics and artificial intelligence; and state space anaylsis and controller design. Optional modules may include: control of electric drives; advanced multimedia systems; and power system operation.
Assessment is by written examination at the end of each semester, coursework and a dissertation based on a project conducted in association with one of the School’s research groups.

A second-class (2.2) BEng Honours degree, or equivalent, in electrical and electronic engineering or a related subject. Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 79 (Internet-based) or 550 (paper-based), or equivalent.
