The programme benefits from strong ties to the University’s ‘Culture Lab’ and Careers Service (both of which support entrepreneurial activity), as well as strong links with industry, experienced entrepreneurs and the opportunity to take part in ‘live’ projects.

You take 80 credits of compulsory modules and 40 credits of optional modules. Compulsory topics include: understanding and managing creativity; enterprise and entrepreneurship; managing design and product development; innovation and technology strategy; research methods. You will then go on to choose one of the following two streams – innovation and creativity; or enterprise and entrepreneurship. Depending on your chosen stream you will then undertake the following:

Innovation and creativity – understanding organisations; creative industries: business enterprise policy; exploring e-business

Enterprise and entrepreneurship – business enterprise for postgraduate students; marketing; finance and financing for entrepreneurs.

Your interests are further developed and consolidated through the extended individual project or dissertation (60 credits). You will be supported by an academic supervisor and in some cases the project will be sponsored by an external organisation.

Exceptional students who wish to continue their studies beyond Master’s level and/or develop academic careers in this field will find a range of specialist supervisory support available to them through Newcastle University's Centre for Knowledge, Innovation, Technology and Enterprise.

An upper-second-class (2.1) Honours degree or international equivalent. Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, with no less than 6.0 in any element.
