Contents

You complete 120 credits of compulsory modules and a research dissertation (60 credits). Generic research modules cover: thinking about research; information skills; qualitative methodology in the arts, humanities and social sciences; introduction to quantitative methods; and dissertation preparation. Subject-specific modules typically include: local and regional development theory and policy; local and regional development and governance; and local and regional development – methodology, analysis and statistics.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Requirements

Normally at least an upper-second-class Honours degree in a relevant arts, humanities or social science subject such as geography, planning, urban studies, environmental studies, sociology, politics, history or business studies. Applicants who hold non-standard qualifications and/or have an appropriate level of relevant experience, will be encouraged to apply and will be considered on an individual basis. Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 90 (Internet-based) or 577 (paper-based) or equivalent.
