Throughout the programme you have access to excellent library and archive holdings in Archaeology. There is also the opportunity to work with the exceptional University artefact collections.
You take a compulsory module (20 credits) that covers research methods, themes, theories and skills in archaeology.
A further optional module (20 credits) is then taken, which provides an in-depth knowledge of period-based or thematic archaeology such as Roman archaeology or Medieval archaeology.
You also have the opportunity to acquire a range of advanced practical skills through a wide range of optional modules (80 credits) that typically include: artefact analysis; Geographical Information Systems (GIS); recording historical buildings; technology in the ancient world; early medieval Britain and Europe; armies and frontiers of the Roman Empire; and Greek, Latin or modern languages.
Finally you complete a dissertation on an archaeological subject of your choice (60 credits).
