InSpace (Interior architecture & Furniture design) prepares interior architects and designers to communicate and interact with the people and the world around us – creatively, responsibly and perceptively. The Master's Group prepares students for both research and professional careers and is based upon artistic, technical and humanistic principles.
The main focus of InSpace is on interior design and architecture in relationship to interior and exterior space. Man's relation to the interior is at the centre of the interior designer's work.
The studies comprise interior design including the design of buildingrelated objects and furniture from an in-depth perspective with considerable emphasis on the process itself, the approach and the ability to communicate and realise ideas. The design work has a social, cultural, economic, ecological, aesthetic, industrial and global character.
The purpose is to recognize experience-based knowledge, and thus encourage thinking beyond the boundaries of one's chosen discipline as well as the desire to discover through creative and artistic work what is visionary, engaging and valuable, regardless of expectations from the world around us. We are assuming that you have a knowledge of and an understanding of the architect's tools and experience of three-dimensional physical design at simple model level.
The Master´s program at Konstfack functions as an exploratory experimental workshop. Our goal is to lead development in the respective disciplines of arts, crafts and design. This is a program that prepares you for both research and professional careers, and provides you with critical thinking, enabling you to evaluate your own creative work and place it in a meaningful context.
The Master´s program is designed for students with a Bachelor´s degree, a professional degree with a minimum of 180 credits, or an equivalent foreign degree. Exceptions to these degree requirements may be made for students who have acquired equivalency by other means.
Selection is made on artistic grounds and is based upon a portfolio of artwork, a project/thesis proposal or statement of intent. An interview is also conducted for all Master's Groups.
The major part of your program consists of discipline-specific courses and your own work within your Master´s Group. This makes it possible to cultivate a broad knowledge and advanced understanding of your main area of interest, i.e. your chosen field. You will be expected to work independently and to have a clear vision of your own educational goals.
A part of the Master´s program consists of compulsory courses which are the same for all Master´s students. These courses and seminars will introduce you to a wide spectrum of theories and research practices.
Other components of the program are elective courses where you and your advisor jointly decide which courses are required in order to broaden and enrich your education. Electives offered by the different specializations at Konstfack enable further individual specialization. Your degree project comprises at least one semester of work.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
