Students taking this master programme will be able to deal with a wide range of problems within advances sturctural engineering and desing, using computaional tools such as the finite element method.
The programme has a focus on wood building technology and desing. These are important research fields the University where research is carried out in close cooperation with industry.
Applied studies about the development of new products and technology toghether with a through theoretical base are included in the programme. Furthermore the current interest for wood contruction projects in the city of Växjö is a positive factor and provides opportunitie for studies. These projects are expected to continue for many years to come.

Basic eligibility for studies at the second level:
* Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent. This must include a minimum of 7.5 higher education credits in Structural Mechanics or Mechanics of Materials as well as mathematics corresponding to the courses Calculus 1 (7.5 higher education credits) and Vector geometry/Linear algebra (7.5 higher education credits) or the equivalent.
* English B or the equivalent.
