Contents

The Cass Full-Time MBA is a dynamic and intensive 12-month programme which allows you to tailor your skills and learning around a Core General Management Programme.

September-April: Core General Management Programme

The Core General Management Programme will develop your fundamental knowledge and skills. You’ll balance hard, statistical expertise with the ‘softer’ abilities of inspiring and managing people.

Block 1: Strategy and Organisations

In Block 1 you will gain a good understanding of obtaining and organising information. This draws together issues relating to IT, analytical tools and financial reporting. The block will end with an integration week designed to test your skills and abilities around the challenges presented in this block.

Block 2: The Financial Environment

Block 2 will give you a better grasp of business fundamentals, in a global context, including economics, finance and marketing. The block will end with an integration week designed to test your skills and abilities around the challenges presented in this block.

Block 3: Creating Management Advantage

Block 3 will cover all aspects of management, including decision making, operational frameworks, human resources and understanding organisational behaviour and managing change. The block will end with an integration week designed to test your skills and abilities around the challenges presented in this block.

Block 4: Knowledge and Policy

After the final block you’ll better understand how to construct key policies and make strategic and financial decisions that underpin business success. The block will end with an integration week designed to test your skills and abilities around the challenges presented in this block.

Commercial Projects

Throughout the core general management programme, you will be asked to deliver a number of commercial projects which integrate the tools, concepts and frameworks from the different blocks. These projects will be lively, challenging, energising and immensely satisfying!

Strategy Project

As a result of the strategy project, you will gain practical, hands on experience of undertaking a strategic audit and analysis, with recommendations, working for a company of your choice. You will work in consultancy teams throughout the core general management programme. This project will integrate frameworks, tools and concepts taught during the strategy skills workshops within the programme. It will culminate with a group presentation to a panel of experts drawn from industry and the Cass alumni network.

Previous corporate clients include Vinopolis, Genes Reunited and maritime insurance specialist Watkins Syndicate.

April-September: Tailored Programme

The core MBA General Management programme will give you the business skills everyone needs. You then design the tailored programme yourself. This enables you to choose the electives and Business Mastery Project which are relevant to your ambitions and personal career objectives.

Running parallel with your formal learning, you will also benefit from career coaching and by formulating your personal development programme. You will get one-to-one support from coaches chosen to benefit your specific needs and ambitions, as well as practical help and advice with job searches and career development plan.

Electives

Focus in a chosen discipline or mix and match electives from a range of disciplines.

Business Mastery Project

In the final part of your programme, you will draw on the many elements of the course in the Business Mastery Project. This is a major piece of self-managed business consultancy which counts substantially towards your final degree.

You will design, conduct and manage every aspect of your project, which will address a specific real-world business problem for your chosen company, industry or research area.

Many of the projects are offered by companies via the Cass Careers Service, and tend to be centred around a summer internship. Sponsoring companies use this opportunity to road-test new talent, whilst you can use this as a platform to consolidate your experience in a particular field which adds value to your CV and could lead to your next career move.

Past Business Mastery Projects have tackled a variety of business problems across a wide range of industries such as banking and finance, stock exchanges, manufacturing, law, advertising and marketing, travel and tourism, and carbon markets.

Recent examples of projects include:

  • The affects on the UK financial system, following the failure of a major global hedge fund
  • Liquidity shift among stock exchanges: the Ryanair case study
  • Issues faced by family businesses - a study for Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP
  • Achieving Competitive Advantage.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
