Location of City University London

This course has been designed to meet the industrial demand for the training and education of both existing and future engineers in the advanced concepts of sustainable electrical power and energy generation. It provides skills for operation, control, design, regulation and management of power systems and networks of the future.

Teaching and Assessment

Students are required to complete a post-module assignment, examinations and a dissertation to be eligible for the MSc.

Course Content

The course is organised into modules comprising three consecutive day courses at a rate of one a month.

Course Structure

Modules include:

Core modules:

* Introduction to power systems and energy management
* Transmission and distribution systems management
* Electricity supply
* Power electronics

Elective modules include:

* Energy policies and economic dimensions
* The energy market from the Purchaser's Perspective
* Corporate energy management
* Energy conversion technology
* Renewable energy and sustainability
* Energy in industry and the built environment
* Emissions trading

Completion of modules and examinations will lead to the award of a Diploma. The completion of modules, examinations and a dissertation will lead to the award of a Masters degree. Students interested in this course may also be interested in the Energy and Environmental Technology and Economics course.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Requirements

Applicants should have either, a minimum 2(i) degree in electrical engineering, physics or an engineering related subject, or relevant career achievement in a power/energy-related or environmental field.

For those students whose first language is not English, the following qualifications are also required:

* IELTS: 6.5
* TOEFL (internet-based): 100
