Healthcare organisations and policy makers are increasingly aware of the need for management decision-making to match advances in evidence-based decision-making by clinicians.

Teaching and Assessment Teaching and learning Teaching and learning involve lecture sessions, workshops, group activities and discussions.

Lecturers are drawn from health management, social sciences and health economics departments here at City University London, supplemented by lecturers from Princeton University USA, the University of Stockholm and distinguished guest speakers.

Assessment methods Modules are assessed through a combination of group work, written coursework and examination. The assessment reflects the learning objectives of the modules.

Career Prospects The course will equip you to meet the growing demand for evidence-based management practitioners in quality assurance, service evaluation, organisation evaluation and performance management, planning and commissioning. It can also equip you for a career in general management.


Contents

Course Content The curriculum combines a strongly evidence-based management dimension with health economics. You will learn to apply depth and rigour to the analysis of evidence and priority-setting, and gain essential health management business skills to make the business and organisational case.

Course Structure The course consists of seven modules and a management dissertation.

When you have successfully completed the taught modules and dissertation, you will qualify for a full Masters degree. Complete eight taught modules and qualify for a postgraduate diploma, or four modules and qualify for a postgraduate certificate.

IELTS

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
