St Luke’s Campus, Exeter, with some modules delivered at NHS facilities in Exeter and Plymouth
This programme was developed within Sport and Health Sciences in collaboration with the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry. Scientists within the department and practitioners from two busy centres of clinical excellence, Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre Exeter and Derriford Hospital Plymouth, provide an introduction to the main disciplines in Sport and Exercise Medicine.
The MSc will suit sport, health and exercise science graduates as well as those with a degree in medicine or professions allied to medicine, eg physiotherapy, podiatry. MSc graduates will be well placed to undertake a research degree, or pursue a variety of employment opportunities, for example, as a sports scientist responsible for the management and co-ordination of professional sports science support services (e.g. sports injury prevention/rehabilitation), or as a medical practitioner specialising in sports injury.
The MSc explores the role of sport and exercise medicine in today’s sport and health-related organisations and provides a thorough grounding in multidisciplinary approaches to the discipline and research and analytical skills. The programme combines clinical understanding with the underlying science and focuses on an evidence-based approach.
Please note that due to unprecedented demand we are no longer accepting applications for our MSc Sport and Exercise Medicine for entry in October 2011 as all places on the programme have currently been filled. If you would like to be contacted should any vacancies unexpectedly arise for 2011 entry, please contact Alison Hume at pgt-shs-admissions@exeter.ac.uk.
