This programme, based on the MA in Middle East Studies, places emphasis on the research methodology necessary for the social scientific study of the modern Middle East.
You will take two semesters of social science and discipline-specific methodology training, laying down the basis for you to proceed into doctoral research. In addition to the compulsory methodology training, you will also undertake a core module in Middle East History, and specialist option modules from the MA, including regional language training.
The programme provides an in-depth study of the recent political and social history of the Middle East and looks at how the region has changed and developed over the last 150 years. It also caters for both Arabic and non-Arabic speakers.
Please note that availability of all modules is subject to timetabling constraints and that not all modules are available every year.
