As the only MA in Naval History at a British university, this programme offers a unique opportunity if you are looking to develop your skills and knowledge of this area to a higher level.

Taught by leading naval historians from the Centre for Maritime Historical Studies, the programme aims to set British naval power in the wider context of world naval development in order to explain why Britain has been so successful and how this has impacted on British history. It provides a theoretical basis for an understanding of sea power and practical case studies of its operation in practice; primarily through the study of the largest of the world’s navies in early modern to modern times: the Royal Navy.
