This programme offers a multidisciplinary study of the role of modern medicine in the workplace in an international context. It integrates the history of medicine and medical practice with contemporary issues in occupational and environmental health.
The programme’s focus is on one of the core issues facing any advanced society: the health and welfare of its population, including the quality of the working life which its citizens enjoy. In recent years both academics and practitioners have become increasingly aware of the health implications and medical consequences of physical and emotional stress within the workplace. This programme offers a multidisciplinary study of the role of modern medicine in the workplace in an international context. It integrates the history of medicine and medical practice with contemporary issues in occupational and environmental health.

Assessment
Portfolio of written work for taught modules plus a maximum 25,000-word dissertation.
