The programme provides the basis for advanced studies in comparative federalism by focusing on the United States, Canada, Australi, Germany, Switzerland and the European Union (EU). Its two core modules outline the crucial historical and philosophical background to modern federal principles that underpin the constitutional, political and socio-economic bases of comparative federal political systems.

We encourage you to `think comparatively´ and to extend the application of federal principles beyond established federations to include areas of the world - such as Iraq, Indonesia, Cyprus, Sudan and Sri Lanka - where they could promote conflict prevention as well as conflict management.
