The MA in European Politics addresses key issues in European governance such as, European integration, EU policy-making, European federalism, democratisation/constitutionalisation and European identity.

The programme is part of the The Centre for European Governance (CEG), a university-recognised research centre. It has a collaborative and research-led approach to studying European Governance and is internationally renowned for interdisciplinary research and post-graduate specialised training. The CEG is based within the Department of Politics, ranked 6th in the 2008 RAE for world-leading research and 7th in the UK for Overall Satisfaction in Politics in the National Student Survey (2010).

Modules are taught by high calibre well-known scholars in the field. To compliment the programme, you are invited to attend regular seminars and workshops held with high profile external speakers.

The programme offers two study tours each year. The first is a tour of the European Union institutions in Brussels, Strasbourg and Luxembourg. You will also be offered the opportunity to participate in the annual SUNY Model EU simulation.

There is the option of spending one semester at the Centre d'études européenes de Sciences-Po in Paris as part of the programme.

The programme is ideal if you are interested in studying governance processes within the European Union.

We usually offer at least 30 modules from which to choose in a single year. We will offer two core modules for each MA programme and many option modules from which you can select.
