The MA in Biblical Studies offers a specialised and integrated programme, covering both New Testament and Hebrew Bible/Old Testament, with cutting-edge biblical studies modules focused on new methodologies and on the socio-religious dimensions of biblical texts.

Taught modules are closely connected with current research interests of the biblical studies staff in the Department. The programme includes work in both biblical languages (Hebrew and Greek) and will serve as an excellent preparation for a research degree in Biblical Studies.

Requirements

We expect applicants to have studied Biblical Hebrew or New Testament Greek at an undergraduate level. We also anticipate that applicants would have either at least an upper second class degree in Biblical Studies or Theology, or some equivalent professional qualification in Theology, or a degree in another subject plus a distinction in the University of Exeter Certificate in Theology (or comparable Certificate programme).

However, we are always willing to talk to potential students about their prior qualifications and suitability for admission. The University aims to operate a policy of equal opportunities at every stage of the admissions process and throughout all modules of study.
