Location of University of Kent, Canterbury Campus

This version of the European Governance programme offers the opportunity to study at two institutions in two different countries and obtain two Master's degrees. You spend the first year at Kent and the second year at one of our partner institutions in Grenoble or Krakow. Successful completion of the programme leads to the award of the MA in European Governance (IDA) and either the Master Gouvernance Européenne de l'Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Grenoble or the Master in European Studies of the Jagiellonian University of Krakow.

Courses in Grenoble are taught in French while courses in Krakow are taught in English.


Contents

The European Governance programme is offered in four versions, ranging from eight months to two years in duration. This page details the structure of the MA (International Double Award) version; please see separate pages for the one year MA and the two year 120 ECTS versions.

The MA in European Governance (International Double Award) – which can be taken on a full time basis only – is a two year degree, with the first year spent at Kent and the second year at our partner institutions in Grenoble – where teaching is in French – or Krakow – where teaching is in English. Successful completion of the programme – worth 240 Kent [120 ECTS] credits – leads to the award of the MA in European Governance (International Double Award) from the University of Kent and either the Master Gouvernance européenne of the IEP of Grenoble or the Master in European Studies of the Jagiellonian University of Krakow.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Requirements

Students who wish to apply for a higher degree must normally possess or be expected to obtain equivalent to a UK first or upper second class honours degree in a relevant or appropriate subject such as Politics, International Relations, European Studies, Law or History. For admission to the MPhil/PhD programme, we normally require a Masters degree with a Distinction or a Merit. In some circumstances, relevant professional qualifications and work experience are taken into account in lieu of formal educational qualifications.

English
The University requires all non-native speakers of English to reach a minimum standard of proficiency in written and spoken English before beginning a postgraduate degree, you should provide us with one of the following:

* IELTS certificate with a minimum score of 6.5
* TOEFL certificate with a minimum of 90 incl 22 reading and 21 writing, 21 listening and 23 speaking (internet based)
* Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English grade C.

Only English Language tests taken up to a maximum of two years prior to the start date of registration will be accepted for admission into the University.
