This programme provides general training if you wish to study archaeology as a higher degree. The programme is flexible and you can choose from two pathways dependent on your background.

In the first, taught modules are taken to the value of 120 credits and the dissertation represents 60 credits. This pathway is suitable if you don’t have a first degree in Archaeology but wish to engage in research in the subject, or if you want more specific subject teaching.

In the second pathway, the dissertation accounts for 90 credits (half the total). This pathway is intended if you have a degree in Archaeology and want to devote more time to research.

Both pathways are intended to serve as research training to suit the requirements of the AHRC’s postgraduate grants competition. The wide range of option modules offers unrivalled choice to enable you to put together the programme that suits you best. The programme involves practical work and fieldtrips.
