THIS INNOVATIVE NEW COURSE - THE FIRST IN THE WORLD WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH A THEORETICAL UNDERPINNING FOR EXTENDED SCOPE POSTS AND PODIATRIC SPECIALISATION.

This well established course is delivered collaboratively between the Department of Podiatry, Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh and the Division of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, Glasgow Caledonian University. It is designed to develop the academic skills of people considering or presently working in extended scope roles or specialisation. It is accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow and the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists.

Careers

This course is intended to enable you to extend your scope of practice and prepare you for extended roles within the profession. There is an acceptance that the role of podiatry within the healthcare team has developed rapidly in recent times. This programme as a post-registration professional development, provides the podiatrist working within the NHS or private practice with the opportunity to progress their career in the area of specialization within podiatry.


Contents

You will study 60 Masters level credits in Year One which will include two core modules in diagnostic investigations and pharmacology. Successful completion of these 60 credits confers eligibility to receive a postgraduate certificate (PgCert). In Year Two, a further 60 Masters level credits will be studied from the available optional modules. Successful completion of 120 M level credits confers eligibility to receive a postgraduate diploma (PgDip). The qualification may then be taken to MSc by undertaking a dissertation.

Teaching and Assessment

A range of student-centred learning methods including tutorials, seminars and
experimental laboratory classes are utilised. Your performance will be assessed by course work, however, some modules do require assessment by examination

IELTS

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Postgraduate students registered on this named award will be Chiropodist/Podiatrists registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC). However the individual modules are available to health & social care professionals with an interest in the area. Candidates should have the relevant honours degree. Those with a professional diploma or unclassified degree should have at least two years professional experience. For graduates of non- UK institutions, the equivalent of the above

Students whose first language is not English must provide evidence of English language proficiency of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent
