The MA in Political Sociology combines the perspectives of sociology and political science to address key issues of social and political change in modern societies. It examines the interaction between and interdependence among social and political institutions, processes and action, especially collective action. The MA is distinctive in its focus on social and political movements, protest, and the less conventional and less institutionalised forms of political action and participation. It also gives particular opportunities to study environmental politics and globalisation, and to choose from among the wide range of option modules in Sociology, Social Policy and Politics and International Relations.
