If you are a working professional, this work-based learning approach enables you to obtain a Master´s degree without the need to take significant time off work. The degree capitalises on your company-specific knowledge and experience, and we help you to identify relevant self-study requirements to provide additional learning, knowledge of application and demonstration of skill-sets leading to institution membership and registration for Chartered Engineer status. With advice and support from a member of our academic staff and the support of your sponsoring company, you prepare a tailored individual learning contract, taking into account your present and future work-based activities and any constraints in terms of learning opportunities.

This Master´s programme is work-based as far as possible and is flexible on start dates and duration. You would normally study for three years: two years to complete the work-based learning modules and a further year to complete an individual project. You need to achieve 180 credit points for a Master´s degree and would normally be expected to take 60 credit points of study in each academic year. The programme is based upon the requirements of UK-SPEC, which is the standard for recognition of professional engineers in the UK - and includes eight 15-credit point modules plus a 60-credit point project which you undertake once you have completed the other modules. You must complete your studies within five years.

You will be in employment in mechanical, aerospace, automotive, computing, electrical or electronic engineering.
