The MA Art and Design Programme aims to provide you with an understanding of the cutting-edge of fashion. It helps you develop your creative potential as a fashion professional and provides you with the entrepreneurial skills to work successfully in your chosen field.
The course aims to provide you with the expertise to promote your own practice either as a small business or in the context of global fashion markets. The course also provides you with the research skills and understanding of fashion and its contexts and particular emphasis is given to providing you with industry and work related experiences.
Our staff are experienced in research, industry and professional practice. You will also benefit from contributions from visiting fashion designers and design professionals, as well as from involvement with our international exhibitions programme. We have close links with a wide range of industry partners and contribute to major national and international events in the fashion industry.
This course would be of interest to graduates and professionals in a wide range of design and design-related fields in roles such as project directors, creative managers, fashion designers, fashion promotion, retail and marketing and related industries.
Particular emphasis is given to providing you with the skills necessary to further your career as a fashion designer. The course is designed to help you understand and work within the contemporary industrial environment and particular attention is given to helping you acquire entrepreneurial skills.
This course is designed to help you develop your practice and give you the skills recovery to further your career in industry both in the UK and abroad. The course includes practice based modules where you will explore and develop your work as a fashion designer.
It also contains course or research skills, entrepreneurialism and professional practice. The final part of the course enables you to complete a major project.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
More informationApplicants should be able to demonstrate recent relevant education or experience in one of the fields or a related field, and have an ability to communicate effectively both in their chosen media and written and spoken English. Accreditation of professional experience may be possible for practitioners without a first degree.
A minimum IELTS score of 6.0, TOEFL 550 (213 CBT) or equivalent is required for those for whom English is not their first language.
