The Postgraduate Programme in Health and Medical Education is an innovative collaborative development between the School of Postgraduate Medicine and the School of Education, with academics from both schools teaching the core elements of the programme in partnership. The programme has been developed in response to the increasing need for clinicians to understand and apply modern educational principles in the workplace, in order to foster the continuing professional development of self and others in rapidly changing health care contexts.
This Programme has been designed to meet the needs of busy health care professionals who wish to develop knowledge and skills within the field of healthcare education. The programme is highly flexible, with students able to study for a Postgraduate Certificate, a Postgraduate Diploma or a MA in Health and Medical Education. In addition to the compulsory modules, students may choose part of their programme of study from a wide range of other modules provided by the university, according to their individual interests and needs.
The programme provides an opportunity to explore educational principles and relevant theoretical perspectives, and their application to professional and workplace education and learning and teaching in health and medical settings. A unique focus of this programme is the opportunity to explore issues that are directly relevant to the individual´s workplace, through work based learning, and blended learning opportunities. Students enrolled on the programme will access state-of-the-art teaching resources, such as the clinical simulation facilities and the excellent distance and blended learning resources available, in addition to the expertise of a range of highly experienced academics and teachers from the School of Education and the School of Postgraduate Medicine. The programme is accessed by a range of health care professionals, and this interprofessionality will provide opportunities for sharing ideas and innovative practice.
The programme fosters the development of knowledge and skills in order to enhance and innovate education in the workplace. The programme will fulfill elements of continuing professional development, transferable skills and foster lifelong learning.

The university year is divided into 3 semesters;
* Semester A - September – January
* Semester B – January – May
* Semester C – June – September
The programme has 2 intakes per year – September and January. Commencement dates vary depending on the modules selected.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
