Location of The Academy of Performing Arts
Cinema and Digital Media is a three-year Master’s follow-up program focusing on Screenwriting, Directing and/or Cinematography, and open to anyone who has completed a Bachelor’s degree in any subject. The instruction is in English and the applicants must demonstrate their knowledge of English at the B2 level based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF) during the admission procedure. The three-year follow-up Master´s programme will be very intensive hands-on and theoretical preparation from the very beginning, as the students will learn how to work with a DVCam, HD and DigiBeta while adopting a professional approach to the 16mm and 35mm film formats both on location and in the studio, and taking a number of compulsory courses based on their specialisation, complemented with suitable optional subjects, workshops, and a number of ad-hoc modules - short intensive courses taught by guest professional artists, theorists, and visiting professors.
The intentionally low number of CDM students and the profile of the offered specialisation subjects will guarantee a personalised approach of the professor to every single student. At the beginning, every student will be assigned a tutor to help them with their studies and creation of their theoretical and practical work.
IELTS
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Cinema and Digital Media is a two to three-year Master´s follow-up programme focusing on Screenwriting, Directing and/or Cinematography, and open to anyone who has completed a Bachelor´s degree in any subject. The instruction is in English and the applicants must demonstrate their knowledge of English at the B2 level based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF) during the admission procedure.
Applicants should be prepared for the fact that, as part of the online interview, they may be requested by the admissions committee to complete additional tasks immediately. For that purpose, applicants should have digital camera ready for use.
The application involves the following requisites:
1. Application form. Please complete it using a computer and send us signed hardcopy with photograph.
2. Two letters of recommendation from current or previous tutors outlining the applicant´s expectations and motivation for the studies and your success.
3. Your structured CV.
4. Master´s Degree project providing answers to the following basic questions:
* - Why would you like to study in the Czech Republic?
* - Why did you decide to apply for CDM?
* - Which of concentrations of study reflects your previous artistic production experience?
* - Which concentration do you wish to develop your creativity in? Directing, Screenwriting, or Cinematography?
* - What work would you like to graduate with? (e. g. script, feature film, documentary...)
5. Certificate of depositing the applicant´s fee of EUR 50 .

7. Artistic samples - based on the specialisation you are applying for:
Cinematography:
Short feature or documentary (up to 10 minutes of duration)
Photographic storyboard on the topic "Encounter"
Two-minute audiovisual self-portrait

Directing:
Short feature or documentary (up to 10 minutes of duration)

Two themes for a short feature film

Screenwriting:
Screenplay for a short feature film or 10 pages from a screenplay
A theme for a full-length feature film

A sample of your own literary writings

All audiovisual works shall be submitted in DVD format (with no region restrictions) and subtitled in English, unless spoken in English.
8. Another mandatory item that your application must include is a notarised copy of your Bachelor´s Degree diploma. If your Bachelor´s diploma is in English, there is no need to translate it - a notarial certificate of it will suffice. If your diploma is in another language, we require its translation into English with a notarial certificate, and please also include a simple photocopy of the original diploma.
