The four-semester master’s programme goes into the knowledge acquired in the Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical and Industrial Engineering bachelors programmes (six semesters) in more depth. The whole programme comprises 120 ECTS credits.
The Production Science and Management master’s programme combines the main topics of mechanical engineering, economics and social skills. Entrepreneurial thinking and management skills are imparted to students, supplementing the engineering programme at the highest level. The aim is to be able to deploy graduates in practice fast and flexibly. The course of study is internationally oriented as a response to demands of an industry which is becoming more and more globalised. Lectures are held exclusively in English.
Graduates will be awarded the academic degree of “Diplom-Ingenieurin” or “Diplom-Ingenieur”, which is internationally equivalent to a “Master of Science” (“MSc”).
Working as an Industrial Engineer
In view of the great regional, national and international need for mechanical engineers, mechanical and industrial engineers graduates from Graz University of Technology enjoy excellent job prospects. Diverse co-operations of Graz University of Technology and its institutes with national and international companies in the high-tech field, for instance in the automotive industry, and the resulting synergy affects regarding teaching facilitate career entry. The field of activity of graduates of the master’s programme Production Science and Management comprises issues at the interface between technology and economics which can be solved independently with the required social skills. Based on the corporate services process, these activities contain the area of provision of services and include product development, planning, purchasing and production. An interesting sphere of activity is offered in the corporate utilisation of services, which deals with questions of sales and marketing of products.
The master programme in Production Science and Management consists of 120 ECTS credits. The first 15 ECTS are assigned to basic courses that have to be accomplished by every PSM student. 35 ECTS are assigned to each of the two PSM pillars of Advanced Technologies and Management and Social Economics, of which 25 ECTS are compulsory courses and ten are optional compulsory courses. Optional Compulsory Courses have to be chosen from the corresponding catalogue. Furthermore, five ECTS of optional courses have to be chosen (see optional courses) and a master thesis has to be written in English (30 ECTS).
Candidates for admission to the Master's Programme must have successfully completed a relevant Bachelor's programme or other equivalent degree programmme.
