The four-semester master’s programme goes into the knowledge acquired in the Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical and Industrial Engineering bachelors programmes (six semesters) in more depth. The whole programme comprises 120 ECTS credits.

The Production Science and Management master’s programme combines the main topics of mechanical engineering, economics and social skills. Entrepreneurial thinking and management skills are imparted to students, supplementing the engineering programme at the highest level. The aim is to be able to deploy graduates in practice fast and flexibly. The course of study is internationally oriented as a response to demands of an industry which is becoming more and more globalised. Lectures are held exclusively in English.

Graduates will be awarded the academic degree of “Diplom-Ingenieurin” or “Diplom-Ingenieur”, which is internationally equivalent to a “Master of Science” (“MSc”).

Working as an Industrial Engineer

In view of the great regional, national and international need for mechanical engineers, mechanical and industrial engineers graduates from Graz University of Technology enjoy excellent job prospects. Diverse co-operations of Graz University of Technology and its institutes with national and international companies in the high-tech field, for instance in the automotive industry, and the resulting synergy affects regarding teaching facilitate career entry. The field of activity of graduates of the master’s programme Production Science and Management comprises issues at the interface between technology and economics which can be solved independently with the required social skills. Based on the corporate services process, these activities contain the area of provision of services and include product development, planning, purchasing and production.
