The Quality Assurance system of degree programmes typically consists of three parts: an internal part (self-evaluation, resulting in a self-evaluation report), an external part (organised by VLIR and VLHORA, Council of Flemish Universities and of Flemish Colleges respectively, consisting of a site visit by external experts and resulting in an assessment report) and the part where the formal decision is taken. The latter part of the Quality Assurance process is carried out by NVAO, the independent accreditation organisation set up jointly by Flanders and The Netherlands.
